Delivering a victory for infrastructure funding at the ballot box

Constitutional proposition elections are notorious for low voter turnout and being driven by the most passionate activists. Given the highly polarized political environment, we decided early to ask trusted third-party leaders to lend their voice to our campaign. By asking Democratic leaders to be the face of our campaign to Democrats, and Republican leaders to be the face of our campaign to Republicans, we effectively tamped down many of the most immediate partisan objection to the infrastructure funding proposition. By putting a handful of these leaders directly on camera, as well as the Chairmen of the state Transportation Committees on direct mail, we allowed the campaign to utilize their trusted credibility. Additionally, we prepared unique graphics, sample quotes, and one-pagers for every legislator who was willing to support the proposition. These allowed legislators to lend their organic voice to the paid campaign while highlighting why the proposition would be a positive for different regions of the state and metro areas.
